Raleigh Hip-Hop Artist REG Unveils Captivating Visuals for His Single ‘The Masquerade’

REG is a rapper, producer, and songwriter from Raleigh, North Carolina. He is of Sierra Leonean descent and grew up loving poetry and music. In High School, he started playing the clarinet while Poets like Maya Angelou and Langston Hughes inspired him. As he got older, he developed a passion for hip-hop music and began writing his own songs. REG taught himself how to produce beats and sample records, then eventually started performing at open mics. REG is passionate about live performance and believes the crowd deserves a great show. KRS-One, Rakim, Ice Cube, Nas, 2Pac, Public Enemy, and The Notorious B.I.G are the artists that heavily influenced him.

REG has released several songs and EPs, and his debut album, “Evil Surrounding The Positive,” was released in 2017. The project was primarily produced by REG himself and one that REG claimed he was particularly proud of. One of the songs “Lustful Ecstasy” featured friend and fellow R&B artist Germaine has been recognized on a French blog. REG continues to work on music as well as doing his podcasting on his YouTube channel. After dropping some more singles and EPs he dropped his project “RAW” in 2020. Standing for Reggie At War, “RAW” features a more hard-hitting sound compared to the previous albums. It has been described by Tunedloud as “The full blow to the gut only deepens with each subsequent listen, because once the frenzy of the music sets you up for what seems like a T.K.O. - the killer punch arrives with the lyrics.”

Although the pandemic came that same year, REG has been slowly crafting another project he calls “Murder By The Symphony.” While doing that, he came up with an EP the next year called “Captivated Murderer.” Something of a precursor, the EP is supposed to represent the murder of the positive vibes once the events of the pandemic and the George Floyd riots happened but still wakes up their critical thought. “Murder By The Symphony” is expected to be due out later this year.

In 2023, REG released the single “The Masquerade” which was written and produced by the aforementioned rapper. The song is a single from his upcoming project “Murder By The Symphony.” The song is a testament to asserting dominance and letting yourself know about the self-worth one can endure. The production has an interesting and distinctive sound with an atmospheric beat switch during the middle of his verses. The drums were influenced by hip-hop producer Timbaland and focused on the spacey yet heavy percussion that still has a fast rhythm.

J.Walker of TLD delivers a message on his latest single, "The Light"

Junior Walker, known as J.Walker of TLD, is a UK-based Christian rapper, songwriter, and producer. He is a solo artist and the foremost member of "The Lion’s Den"- the record label. At the age of 5, he had a troubled beginning in life leading to being in police custody. Growing up without a father around and in a household where drugs were being sold, he became a selective mute and increasingly withdrawn.

J.Walker of TLD's experiences of struggle would go on to shape his musical influences as he clung to artists like 2Pac and Bob Marley for a sense of understanding of the world and how to navigate it. This was further nurtured after he met his father, a Reggae artist, DJ, and producer known as JUNIA Walker at the age of 9. He was able to get a unique insight into the music business and exposure to a large array of music. Being around artists such as Frankie Paul, Damian, and Stephen Marley made reaching the pinnacle of music success feel a lot more attainable.

J.Walker started rapping in college and released multiple singles and an album while still in college. The album was well received and released under the Jusic International record label. After winning numerous talent shows, a university music tour would then follow. The rapper performed on sets with Ed Sheeran but was taking his Christian faith increasingly seriously.

J.Walker of TLD This led to the artist changing the message of his music as it became increasingly informed by his faith. In 2011, he signed with the Gospel music label, Rock Steady Movement. This is where he was able to grow and develop as a Christian artist. Soon after, he would start his label, "The Lion’s Den." The label allowed him to develop as a producer, working with multiple artists, and shaping different sounds around the Christian message.

His work got the attention of Christian rap blog Rapzilla and he would later also feature on the "A STEP FWD" Christian Chart.

He released a series of singles and videos while working alongside artists in the Christian music scene such as MC Tempo. The connection led to an appearance on the BBC1 show "Sunday Morning Live." It proved to be a great moment for J.Walker and the Christian Hip-Hop scene as a whole.

Flow4Thought born as Dezmonde Thomas developed his stage name and presence within the music scene. As the New Jersey native stepped into his new shoes as an artist, he embodied his new alias, Flow4thought. He describes the meaning behind the name “F.L.O.W." is an acronym which stands for, ‘For Love of Writing’.

Following the introductory phase of his music career, Flow4thought initially used 'MySpace' to engage with listeners and release music. In 2017, the talented rapper unveiled an EP titled 'Soul Food & Eye Candy' on all DSPs which captured the attention of new supporters. The release of the new project was an eyeopener for Flow4thought as it revealed the business aspect of music. He expressed, “I realized recording music was the easy part. The business aspect of what goes into making a hit record is ten times more tedious than recording it.”

With his keen ear and ability to adapt to change within the industry, Flow4Thought has maintained imperative relationships and the attention of his fans. He understands the importance of networking and investing in himself and plans to continue to climb the ladder within the entertainment industry. Flow4Thought has been working diligently to create timeless music for the world to hear. The 2022 year will undoubtedly be a big year for the young artist as he prepares to unleash consistent content and bless many stages.

While in the studio, Flow4thought focuses on the messages within his songs. Although he understands the importance of a catchy hook and dynamic wordplay, he remains authentic, setting him apart from other artists. He stated, “Music can shape the environment it’s being listened to in. That’s why I find it so important to focus on the messages within my craft.” When asked what advice he has for other independent artists, Flow4thought expressed, “From personal experience, I have learned that patience is a virtue. As much as you want things to happen overnight, it’s almost always never the case. A slow grind is better than no grind in the sense of bringing your passion and career to life.”
